College Calendar / Checklist for Seniors


    • September 8 : Registration deadline for Oct 7SAT www.collegeboard.com
    • September 22: Registration deadline for the Oct. 28 ACT. Register at www.actstudent.org
    • Make sure your schedule meets your needs.  Be sure all graduation requirements are met.  Maintain a rigorous program through your senior year.
    • Make an appointment with your counselor to discuss your postsecondary plans.  Become familiar with the application procedure.
    • Compile / fine tune your college lists to include reach, middles & safety schools
    • Meet with college representatives visiting U-32
    • Students applying for Early Decision should approach teachers for recommendations as soon as possible.
    • Student athletes should check with their counselor or coach about recruiting procedures.
    • Seek out scholarship information and apply as appropriate.
    • Use Family Connection as a resource for college searches


    • October 5: Registration deadline for Nov 4SAT www.collegeboard.com
    • October 19: College and Career Info Session 5:30pm
    • October 19: VSAC Paying for College Night 6:30 pm
      • Start filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  File VSAC application.  For more information, visit fafsa.ed.gov.
      • Attend the VSAC presentation on filling out the FAFSA. Date TBD
      • FAFSA and VSAC Applications should be filed as soon as possible.
      • Complete CSS Profile if you haven’t already done so
    • October 28: ACT test date
    • Check out commonapp.org to see which colleges accept the common application.
    • Meet with college representatives visiting U-32.
    • Many colleges use data from CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE to provide nonfederal financial aid.  Begin applying online at profileonline.collegeboard.com.
    • Finish a draft of your essay.
    • Ask teachers for recommendations.  Have a resume to give teachers to help them out.
    • Heads up for Early Decision and Early Action deadlines – they usually fall on either November 1 st or 15th.  Early Action deadline at UVM is November 1.
    • Arrange campus visits 


    • November 2: Start of Quarter 2
    • November 2: Registration deadline for Dec 2 SAT
    • November 3: Registration deadline for Dec. 9 ACT. Register at www.actstudent.org
    • November 4: Test date for SAT Reasoning & SAT Subject Tests
    •  www.collegeboard.com
    • Meet with college representatives visiting U-32.
    • Check with your teachers, coaches, and/or TA to ensure that letters of recommendation are sent on time.
    • Mail applications for colleges with “rolling” deadlines as soon as possible.
    • Keep polishing your essay.
    • Continue to attend meetings with college representations.
    • Check in with your counselor.
    • Remember; Colleges take senior grades seriously.


    • December 2: Test date for SAT Reasoning & SAT Subject Tests
    • December 9: ACT test date.
    • Put the finishing touches on your essay.  Be sure to proofread!
    • Try to wrap up applications before winter break.  Photocopy all application materials before sending them in.
    • Send standardized test scores to your colleges.  It can be done electronically at collegeboard.com or by phone at 800-SAT-SCORE.
    • Early Decision and Early Action letters start arriving this month.  Check with individual schools to confirm dates.   Good luck!
    • Regular applicants:  call admissions offices to set up interviews if needed.
    • Complete CSS Profile if you haven’t already done so
    • Check in with your Counselor.

    Friday, June 8 - Graduation Survey/Final Bills/Library Books Due – All final bills due to Heather Magoon in the U-32 Main Office.  All library books need to be returned to the library and any outstanding library fines must be paid.  Completion of Senior Survey in Naviance. Seniors owing money to U-32 will not be allowed to walk at graduation. Last day of regular classes for Seniors.  All Senior grades due by 3:00 pm.  Yearbooks distributed to students who purchased them.

    Sunday, June 10 - Senior Awards Ceremony – This ceremony is for parents, family, and friends to celebrate Senior accomplishments.  It will be held in the Auditorium at 3:00pm.  Seniors will assemble in the Atrium at 2:30pm.  Students should dress nicely.  No tickets are required.  There will be a dessert, coffee, and punch reception following the ceremony.

    Monday, June 11 - Graduation Practice #1 - in the gym from  8:00-9:30 am then  SCOP (Senior Community Outreach ProjectU-32 Seniors are Offering a Day of Volunteer Service!  For more information or to suggest a project, please contact our Student Council at u32scop@gmail.com  or leave a message with your information (email, phone, name, project, location) at our SCOP extension at U-32, (802) 229-0321 ext. 5991.

    Tuesday, June 12 - Graduation Practice # 2 - in the gym from 9:45am- 11:00 am. Caps, Gowns, Tassels & Report Cards– will be handed out after graduation practice #2. Only students who have paid their final bills will receive their cap and gown. Students without a cap and gown will not be allowed to walk at graduation. This is an extremely important practice.  Seating and diploma distribution order will be determined.

    Tuesday, June 12 - Graduation Parade at 11am– Seniors will wear their caps & gowns for a Graduation Parade through the U-32 halls while faculty, staff & students cheer them on.

    Senior Trip - To Be Determined

    Friday, June 15 - U-32 Graduation! – held on the U-32 Main Field at 6:30 PM. Seniors report to the Atrium at 5:45 PM to assemble.  Dress clothes are mandatory and caps and gowns must be worn to participate. In case of impending bad weather, a decision will be made by 1:00 PM Friday, June 9th whether to hold graduation outside or inside in the U-32 gym.  That decision will be posted by 1:00 PM on the U-32 website and sent via phone and/or email messages to the U-32 community. No tickets are required for either outside or inside graduation.  Handicap access: If you have a person with special needs attending graduation and need to arrange parking and seating, please contact Ann Wheelock at 802-229-0321, Ext. 5121 or email her at  awheelock@u32.org
